Artists in June are from Australia and US

Jessie & Kendra & evening boat trip... Its midsummer week and light almost around a clock.

Jessie Imam is an Australian artist working with photography, the moving image and installation to create works centred around themes of embodiment and the female perspective. While at AARK, Imam hopes to use the borders and boundaries of the islands of the Archipelago to explore the borders and boundaries of the body.

Kendra Bell is a costume designer and full time faculty at Tufts University in Boston, Ma. She is excited to be a part of the AARK for the month of June.  Her desire to break routine and experience life amongst a new community lead her to seek out the residency in Korpo. While on the island, Kendra is catching up on research for a course she will be teaching next semester on "Costume and Activism."  In between academic readings, she has been taking advantage of the archipelago's natural resources in order to begin the creation a performance art piece.
